A Practical Python Tutorial for Comparing Investment Price Performance
The Maknoon AssetWatch Project is an educational Python project designed to show how investment data can be collected, analysed, and displayed visually. The program uses Yahoo Finance to download historical prices for different investments, including ETFs, Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold, and silver. It then uses Pandas to organise and compare the data and Matplotlib to create a graph showing how the investments have performed over time. Because the investments have very different prices, AssetWatch converts their price changes into percentages so that they can be compared fairly on the same graph. The project demonstrates, in a simple and practical way, how Python can turn publicly available financial data into useful information for understanding investment performance.
